The Valley Historical Society is an example what we do right in rural towns.  There is a tremendous effort put out by volunteers to keep the museum open and the History Fair plus the parade is second to none.  When a community comes together as the area around Sinclairville does for this event only good things can happen.  This draws attention to the existing businesses in the area as well as giving people the opportunity to visit and remember the past.  I have participated as an elected official in the past and had a team of oxen in the parade in 2005.  I really believe in these community events are what make our rural towns thrive.

The library is also a great example of people working together to provide a much needed service to the community.  The library itself is very attractive but more importantly it has so much to offer those who use it.

I have also participated in the Charlotte Town Picnic.  This is an enjoyable evening where people get together to socialize and talk over things.  I enjoy myself at this event (although my kids think I’m a bit too long winded).

One of the major eyesores in the county has been the Hornburg tire dump.  We all remember the fire that got national coverage.  Very diligent work by so many people brought about a solution to the problem.  This shows what persistence at the county and local level can accomplish.  I wish I could say that I had more to do with the eventual solution to this big problem but all I can say is that I support this effort.

The Sinclairville Fire Department is a key to safety and a very integral part of the community.  The efforts of all volunteer fire departments are usually taken for granted until we need them.

I am proud to represent western Charlotte in Mayville and would like the opportunity to continue.
